Miscellaneous

The HR dude from corporate headquarters is down here all week. Scuttlebutt says he's putting down a mutiny in the machine shop. I'm not sure it can be quelled without firing either the lead machinist or the VP-Operations -- and personally, I'd prefer the latter.

Marsy's shower was on Sunday. Her coworker who was hostess owns a spectacular Painted Lady Victorian in Somerville. Saw Jess there -- she's still blissful about her Wellesley job, but Michael's 3-year postdoc contract ends this spring & he's considering whether he'll have to switch to a for-profit position so they can stay in the area.
The aforementioned coworker was giving away books as party favors, her strategy for taming the tide. I appropriated a Philip Pullman trilogy.

[livejournal.com profile] napoleons_mommy will turn 10 next Sunday (leap year baby). E. and I may take her to lunch.

Housecleaning progress: vacuumed upstairs hall and bathroom, changed sheets. Pulled out credit card statements older than 5 years for Sears and L&T, to be shredded. Bundled drycleaning and tailoring stuff into bag for dropoff. Got quote from possible new storage company.

I still come up, but less often. Something like once a month, these days. And yes, I'd love to get lunch - will holler as soon as I figure out when my next trip is.

Looks like we'll have to find another oppty to celebrate N's birthday, though.
