GNEW

Yep, extra tarps, extra shoes and socks, extra blue bins:

Message from the autocrats:

Due to the rain the normal camping area is going to be battlefield and the battlefield will be camping. We will be marking off roads where people can camp. The normal camping area is off-limits due to standing water. Sorry for the inconvenience but we want people to sleep dry.

If you have any questions when you get on-site please find Molly, Astrid or Gaius.

Thank you very much.

The battlefield is apparently draining very well. Many reports today called it "dry as a bone" despite the fact it was raining today at a rate measured in inches per hour.

Weather forecast for Hebron looks much clearer than we've seen here in over a month. I suspect if its clear tomorrow and Friday as promised that the whole site will have drained by Friday lunchtime.

Besides it wouldn't be an SCA war site if we didn't have "the old battlefield" or "the old archery field" or whatever!

I was looking at the forecast earlier and it didn't seem to be too bad. Not that different from the forecast for Glen Linn last weekend in fact, and that turned out quite nicely.

As long as I don't have to pack sodden canvas, it's all good. But there again, I'm lending my tent to [livejournal.com profile] evilnicola so *she'll* be the one dealing with it. BWAHAHAHAHAH!
