"Thursday evening" doesn't mean to me 5:15. Especially it doesn't mean 5:15 + having already eaten dinner!

I assume, of course, that this is OES. It could be worse. I recall that when I was initiated into my (Masonic) lodge, "Wednesday evening" meant "be there by 3:30 pm". Piece o' cake for a working stiff (NOT).

Got mail back in March, the Grand Family will be introduced on Thursday evening. Please return the enclosed form listing the name of your escort.

Got email from the Grand Marshal yesterday, the session opens at 5:30, please have your escort there by 5:15. So I wrote back and said "My escort started a new job on the first of the month, and this is during his workday. I will not have an escort."
