The virtues of speaking up

So I reiterated in [livejournal.com profile] baronernst's LJ yesterday that I am looking for more chances to work on my court heraldry skills. Lo, at baronial council last night [livejournal.com profile] jdulac had brought the Burdened Tyger scrolls* for [livejournal.com profile] elizabear and [livejournal.com profile] dsrtao. DSR couldn't really read his own scroll, so I got to read it. Cold. (ack! and oops!) I only flubbed a little bit, confused by [livejournal.com profile] lisagw's hand.

It was an unexpected pleasure to get to read their scrolls. But boy-howdy do I need more work on that skill. I breathed in some poorly chosen places, and wish I'd gotten to preview the text (which of course I would have, in a real court).

*Siamese twin scrolls - both in the same style and on the same sheet of paper, but separate and individualized texts for them.

I thought you read them quite well. Those tall 's's can throw anyone for a loop.

(Wait a sec - was it your art rather than Lisa's?)

No, no. It definitely wasn't mine. I would have remembered.

I just know a thing or two about tall 's's, also that [livejournal.com profile] lisagw likes ascenders.
