For instance, it's considered polite to wear the colors of an honoree's Association or her Star Point, at her reception (i.e. I should have worn blue last night, since it was Grand Adah's reception - but I did succeed in remembering to wear lavender for the Trailblazers' night on Saturday). Gifts and cards should be given at the reception, not "eventually," even if that means you're hiding in the dressing room writing out congratulations cards before the receiving line.
I may not develop great comfort with public speaking even after two years in state office, but I darn well will get good at the little stuff like picking out the right dress.
