Periodic randomness
Dec. 17th, 2007 02:40 pmBusy day on Saturday, as we compressed several tasks into the day so we could hibernate during Sunday's nor'easter. In the morning, we went out to the Masonic nursing home in Charlton to call on two of our elderly shut-ins. (I'd only been assigned one, but it seemed silly to visit one and have someone else drive out to visit the other, so Deb and I arranged a quiet swap.) The one with most of her faculties, although pretty deaf, was a pleasure to talk to and I know she wished I would have stayed to visit her room after lunch. She'll be 100 on Wednesday. The other barely realized that someone was there to visit, so we left her the card from the chapter, and a poinsettia, and beat feet.
We had lunch with my MIL out in Amherst at the Route 9 Diner. I wish they were closer, so I could sample my way through their menu. They're a real diner, too, with available gloppy gravy, cream pies, and breakfast 24/7. I was a good girl and had a turkey-and-greens wrap and a diet soda. MIL is doing great with her diet and exercise program and has lost something like 30 lbs since she retired.
In the evening was
dervishspin's birthday party, the dress code being Little Black Dress. As I said to her, I was happy to have an excuse to wear my LBD without having to make conversation with somebody's CEO. Some time when we're out there - presumably visiting Camelot - we'll go back to that restaurant for a meal.
