We found another house! Burlington (MA) this time. Pretty split level with hardwood floors and a giant family room off the kitchen. More details after we have a successful inspection, but our price offer was accepted this morning.

Took Mother to lunch after church last Sunday (a week ago). I made her do the driving up to the restaurant, because I quietly wanted to ascertain that her skills are still OK. Which they are. She's not a great driver, but neither is she a little-old-lady menace, driving 15 mph down the center line.

I think the brouhaha over the new EK orders' discussion lists has finally died off. I'm not crazy about the new system, but I don't think it's any worse than the old one. And it looks like people have noticed that 1) people can say any damn thing they want, anywhere they want (on a list, over Thanksgiving dinner, at a postrevel), and the Crown could pursue a grievance against them for breach of confidentiality whether or not the lists are run by anybody official; confidentiality in these cases is a matter of personal integrity, not legislation; and 2) there is still nothing stopping the formation of more unofficial lists.

I should've been more aggressive looking for a party at the hotel after Crown. If I'd been with it, I would have found VDK and possibly Tarragon in the living room/lobby TV room, apparently.

If it would stop with the bloody rain I might get the gravel into the potholes in my driveway! It's been sitting there since before I had four weeks of doctors-orders-no-heavy-lifting.

Wonder what Mother will say if I want to get rid of some of the furniture I accepted from her former house? It's nice stuff, and I'll still keep the real antiques. Hope she won't be offended.
