Hornets' nest, or velvet carpet?
Jun. 4th, 2003 10:52 amNot quite two months ago, I was "restructured" and given a new boss. P has a reputation for not liking any of the systems and people previously in place at this building. Seems people here could do no right -- we should all have intuitively preferred her systems, as used in our other location.
So when I started working for P, I figured we were going to be at cross purposes, that my schedule was going to change to suit her hours, that I was going to have to work against a presumption of wrongdoing or dumb systems. I worried, in fact, that I was going to be fighting to meet undefined and hostile standards in order to keep my job.
I just got, for the second time in two days, a praise email -- for devising a faster way to get purchase requisitions approved (by emailing them to her). Spooky. Nice, but spooky.
