Please bail

Oh please person who we are supposed to interview this afternoon. Please call and say you can't make it. Please say you'll come tomorrow or Monday instead. Then I can go home. Really, we won't hold it against you.

ETA: Dept Head rearranged the sequence of interviews to move my group up half an hour, yay.

I just called my Doc - I have an appointment this afternoon.

I said "are you canceling appointments, or am I the last guy standing?"

They said that no one would let them go home before 5. So: I am going.

I may call back at noon and say "may I come early"?

Your interview candidate may be concerned that canceling is showing lack of interest. Why not call and ask if there is a better future time? Don't play chicken....

I would not bail if it was my interview, but I would hope like hell someone would call me and reschedule.

Be careful what you wish for... I had a job to interview for a couple of years ago and was appalled at the number of people who just failed to show up or cancelled altogether without bothering to reschedule due to weather. I cross my fingers that you don't wait around for a no-show!
